FAQ

How long will it take?

This depends on the item. Products sourced from our lovely suppliers typically ship the following business day. This includes most non-custom items and any products not listed with our "SB" brand. Please see "our sources" for more details. 

For SB custom orders:

This is a bit of a tough question.  What we can say is this: we process orders in the order they are received. As a result, it depends on how many orders are in the works at the time your order is placed. These items are being hand-made to your specifications, just for you.  There may never be another one like it, which is cool...but this takes time.

Usually our lead time for regular custom items (non-braided items), is about 2-3 weeks.  This lead time typically increases slightly in the early spring (show season!) and again in November/December (Christmas!) to 3-4 weeks

Shipping and Handling

We are located in beautiful Saskatchewan, Canada.  All items ship from Canada and we've found Canada Post to be the most cost-effective.  

Orders over $200: FREE SHIPPING. 

Orders under $200 ship as follows:


Generally we can ship ONE or TWO ITEMS:
-  Anywhere in Saskatchewan for $18.00 + $3 fuel surcharge charged by the post office
-  Other provinces for $22.00 + $3 fuel surcharge charged by the post office
-  To the United States for $19.00 + $3 fuel surcharge charged by the post office

When shipping to other International destinations:
-  We pair with a variety of couriers to keep our international shipping rates competitive. 

All duties, customs, exchange, or other fees are the buyer's responsibility.

 

PAYMENT OPTIONS
~  All prices are shown in Canadian funds.
 Orders are to be paid when the order is confirmed.
~  Shipping and Handling charges, if required, are to be paid when the order is confirmed.

PREFERRED PAYMENT METHODS:

for Canadian customers:  Email money transfer (EFT) is preferred. You can transfer funds to info@sagebrushtack.com. This option saves us the 2.9% credit card processing fee, but we understand this won't be everyone's preferred method of payment. This is why we offer additional payment options. 

for customers outside of Canada: we have a range of payment options including Google & Apple Pay, Shop, Paypal, and American Express. 

  • Payment must be made in full once all the details of your order have been finalized.  Your order will not be processed until your order is paid in full.

Cancelling an Order

Once a custom order is started, the order cannot be cancelled for any reason.  All of our custom orders are handmade to order, and our other stock items (like stable supplies, leather bridles, fly gear) are ordered just for you from our suppliers. 

If the order hasn't yet been started, then we can refund your money minus any fees that have been/will be incurred.  (Such as PayPal fees, EFT fees, etc.)  Please email us at info@sagebrushtack.com to find out the status of your order.


Can I wash my items?

Yes, you can!

1)  Remove any leather or metal hardware
2)  Put the item in a mesh laundry bag or tie it in an old pillow case
3)  Wash in cold water with like colours (in case the colours happen to bleed)
4)  Always hang to dry -- never in the dryer!

Drying Tips:  Paracord has been known to shrink so allowing the item to dry stretched between a couple of fixed items (trees, posts, or even chairs would probably work) will help to keep the length if that is important to you. I just tug on mine a bit while it is still wet and hang it over the line I have in the backyard. Then just wait for it to dry and it's good to go!

If the item happens to be really dirty, I'd suggest hand-washing it in a big pail of water instead to save your washing machine.  It's amazing how much dirt can come out of some things.  If doing this, go easy on the soap and rinse, rinse, rinse!

Returns

Each custom SB item is hand-made for each individual customer which offers a great attention to detail for each piece we sell.  If you find there is a problem with the workmanship of the item, please let us know immediately.  

Please understand that we will not take returns on custom items.  

Due to the highly customizable features of our products, no two items will necessarily be the same. This can make it very difficult to sell a custom item ordered by one customer to a new one. All items are made at the time of order just for you. We always ask you to confirm all the details of the order before it is placed.  Please be sure of all the details before finalizing your order.

A note about metal snaps and hardware.  

Metal snaps and hardware will break. Every piece of hardware has a maximum weight it can handle, and horses being horses (pulling back, stepping on lead ropes, getting tangled) put hardware on tack to the test. Often, it is actually a good thing that a snap breaks before your horse does! Hardware also gets dirty and doesn't work as well as when it is new.  These are not things that we can prevent.  No supplier of ours will exchange or give us money back for snaps that break or don't work properly. 

Because of this, we are not able to replace snaps or metal hardware for free.  If a snap isn't working like it should, we would suggest washing it in warm water to try and loosen any dirt and debris that may have worked it's way into the mechanism.  Once dry, add a small drop of oil. 

 If this doesn't work, please contact us and we can either walk you through a DIY repair at home OR you can send the item back to us for repair at a reasonable rate.

A note about our paracord and rope.  

The paracord and double braid yacht rope we use is very strong...for it's size.  It is not indestructible.  It will wear.  Horses (and people too!) are hard on things. You can extend the life of your product by regularly cleaning the item and storing it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. UV damage causes colour fading and can damage tack materials over time.

 We make a product that is tough and, with some care and consideration, will last for a long, long time under normal working conditions.  We know, because we put our products to the test every time we ride!
