The lead rope is made with 5/8" diameter double-braid yacht rope, which has an excellent feel favoured by many clinicians and trainers. While heavier than typical ropes used (which have a diameter of 9/16"), 5/8" ropes have extra weight to promote clear aids for groundwork and Natural Horsemanship style training.

What is paracord?
Parachute cord AKA "Paracord" is a small cord consisting of a coloured cover and 7 tiny inner strands. We typically use Paracord 550 as decor (for example, nosebands on halters or turkshead knots on lead ropes) or as the main braided component of items such as dog collars, leashes, and hand-braided reins.
Hardware Options
We offer a variety of hardware options to suit different preferences.
We also offer two ways of attaching this hardware.
Option A (Standard): The hardware is permanently spliced into the loop for a clean, streamlined finish. This creates a sharper, more polished look, but if the hardware is damaged, the item will need to be returned for repair.
Option B (Interchangeable): The hardware is attached via a loop end rather than being spliced in. This allows you to swap hardware as needed, offering greater flexibility, though with a slightly less seamless appearance.
Rope diameter Overview
We offer rope in the following sizes:
- 3/16": ideal for thin rope halters, rope baskets, and rope art.
- 1/4": ideal for halters and bridles, collars for small dogs or cats
- 3/8": ideal for driving reins, dog leashes, collars, and thin reins
- 1/2": for those who like a happy medium in their reins: not too small, not too thick. Also useful for thicker leashes or collars.
- 9/16": typical rein and lead rope diameter
- 5/8": for those who like more weight and less bounce to their reins and lines
